Autism Collaborative Endorsement (ACE) Program

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

After 14 successful years of offering the autism endorsement to educators across the state, the ACE program will phase out and no longer offer the online courses after Summer 2016. Therefore we are no longer accepting new students for the ACE Program.

We would like to thank all the students, instructors, and practicum supervisors who have made the program a success. An additional note of appreciation to the Michigan Department of Education, Office of Special Education for providing the start-up funds for the program and continuing to support the offering of the endorsement. Since 2002, over 350 students have received an autism endorsement through ACE, which is a significant increase in the number of teachers in the state with training to work with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

We are committed to assisting current ACE students in completing their autism endorsement. Current students should review the course schedule on the ACE website for Fall 2015 through Spring/Summer 2016 and plan to complete all course work before Fall 2016. The final practicum course will be available through the home universities through Spring/Summer 2017. If you are unable to complete the ACE online coursework by Summer 2016, we advise you to talk with your home university advisor about options available to complete the endorsement. One option will be to transfer the ACE courses into one of the participating ACE university programs that offer an ASD endorsement. Alternatively, if you would like to make an immediate change to another university program, you can review the list of universities with an approved ASD endorsement program on the Office of Professional Preparation website.

For further information, contact your home university advisor.
